Brasilia, Contradictions of a New City
In 1967, de Andrade was welcomed by the Italian firm Olivetti to generate a docudrama on the brand-new Brazilian funding city of Brasília. Built throughout the latter half of the 1950s as well as established in 1960, the city became part of an effort to inhabit Brazil's substantial indoor area and also was to be the embodiment of democratic urban planning, devoid of the course divisions and inequalities that identify numerous metropolitan areas. Unsurprisingly, Brasília, Contradições de uma Cidade Nova (Brasília, Contradictions of a New City, 1968) disclosed Brasília to be utopic only for the well-off, duplicating the exact same social issues existing in every Brazilian city.
