Archie Glass is attempting to break into the Hollywood industry in 1942. His opportunity comes in the form of a job offer: locate a young white movie star before the press learns that she has gone missing, and he will have a chance to pursue his Hollywood ambitions. A voyage into a Los Angeles you have never seen before, as the actors who portray the maids, busboys, and background players in jungle films all come to the fore in this dramatic noir about a guy who will go to any length to see his ambition come true. After searching the alleyways of Hollywood, Archie realizes that there are more lies than truths to be found there. At the end of the film, he discovers the woman he has been yearning for as well as the harsh realities of being a black guy in Hollywood.
