Roseanne is the object of Vincent's adoration at school. By night, she contends with a tumultuous home life: her mother, Maggie, is having an affair with her drunken husband, Fred. When Maggie's infidelity is uncovered, Fred unleashes his rage on Roseanne, Maggie's stepdaughter. Maggie plots her vengeance with the help of her lover, Jimmy, but in this contemporary fable largely based on Fyodor Dostoyevsky's "Crime and Punishment," Vincent may be the one to help her construct a new life.
