Eduard Streltsov has everything a young man could wish for by the age of twenty: talent, celebrity, and love. He's a budding football talent in the Soviet Union. The entire country is waiting with baited breath for the national team to win the forthcoming World Cup, where Streltsov will meet Pelé, the legendary Brazilian footballer. However, two days before the team's departure, the athlete's opponents arrange to ruin his career. Streltsov must re-enter the field and prove that he is a true champion deserving of everyone's love when the door to great sport appears to be closed for good.
