The Fortress
17th century Korea, ancient. The mighty Khan of the Jurchen tribe in Manchuria, who battles the Ming for control of China, establishes the Qing dynasty and demands that King In-jo of Joseon submit to him; but he refuses, remaining loyal to the Mings. On December 14th, 1636, the Qing army invades Joseon, and King In-jo and his court take refuge in the Namhan mountain castle, preparing to defend the kingdom.
