The Harder They Fall
Tainted fight promoter Nick Benko hires jobless sportswriter Eddie Willis to promote his own, an unknown Argentinian boxer named Toro Moreno. Even though Moreno is really a hulking giant, his own odds for success are exacerbated by a powder-puff punch and also a glass jaw. Exploiting Willis' reputation for ethics and standing in the boxing community, Benko arranges a series of fixed conflicts that propel the Moreno to no 1 contender. The champ, the sadistic Buddy Brannen, harbors bitterness and promises to punish him. Eddie must decide whether to tell the innocent Toro the very fact.
