Alley Cat

Yosuke Kubozuka, a depressed ex-boxer, encounters a stray cat who brightens his day, but she is kidnapped by a funny filthy mechanic (Kenji Furuya). The odd couple is suddenly dragged into a political conspiracy with Saeko (Yui Ichikawa) and her son at the core, calling each other by the rival names they gave the cat, Maru and Lily. The two stray cats start out on the road to redemption, or at least tranquil cat ownership, after witnessing another injustice in which the economic and social elite prey on the weak. (Fun fact: Yosuke Kubozuka and Kenji "KJ" Furuya released the single "Soul Ship" in2017, in addition to starring together in Alley Cat.)
