Before We Grow Old
Summer in Berlin. Three people in their twenties are Maria and Niels, both from Berlin, and Chlo, a student from Britain. As they sexily drift through Berlin, they rush headlong into a carefree and chaotic love affair with each other. They live life to the fullest and grab everything and anything they want. Their only compass seems to be the pleasure they get from being together, which works great until Chlo gets pregnant by accident. Now, insecurity, anger, jealousy, and doubt break out. An abortion is planned and then turned down. Who is allowed to have a say, when, and about what? Their strange trio falls apart, and their once-balanced relationship changes into shifting patterns of two people, until it seems for a moment that it might be possible to restore a precarious balance. Is their utopia within reach, or is this just the quiet before the storm? To love differently takes hard work. The world is not ready for Maria, Niels, and Chlo. But neither are they.
