Bisbee '17
It's 2017 in Bisbee, Arizona, an old copper-mining community simply miles from the Mexican boundary. The town's dense neighborhood prepares to honor the 100th anniversary of Bisbee's darkest hr: the notorious Bisbee Deportation of 1917, during which 1,200 striking miners were violently drawn from their houses, gotten rid of to the middle of the desert, and also entrusted to die. Townspeople confront this fierce, misinterpreted past by organizing remarkable recreations of the rising strike. These dramatized scenes are based upon subjective variations of the tale and "directed," in a sense, by homeowners with conflicting views of the event. Deeply personal segments torn from family history develop toward a massive restaging of the expulsion itself on the precise day of its 100th wedding anniversary.
