Endgame
The timing is a phase in South Africa's history, the late'80s. President P.W. Botha is hanging onto power by a thread since the African National Congress (ANC) takes up arms against apartheid and the country tumbles toward insurrection. There would be A British mining concern convinced that their interests would be better served at a South Africa that is reliable and so they quietly dispatch their head of affairs, Michael Young to open an intimate dialogue between the enemies. Constructing a team by facing obstacles that seem insurmountable to pave the way, Young puts his hope from ANC leader Thabo Mbeki and philosophy professor Willie Esterhuyse. It is their empathy that will function as the catalyst for change by proving more powerful than the terrorist bombs that threaten to disrupt the dialogue.
