Good Morning
A light hearted take on the perennial theme of these struggles of intergenerational relationships of director Yasujiro Ozu , Good Morning tells the story of 2 young boys that stop speaking in protest after their parents won't obtain a tv set. Ozu weaves a wealth of gags through a family portrait as the ones of his films , mocking the foibles of this world through the eyes of his son protagonists. Shot in magnificent color and put in a suburb of Tokyo at which housewives gossip about the neighbors' new washing machine and unemployed husbands start looking for act as door to door salesmen, this charming comedy refashions Ozu's own hushed classic I Was Born, But... to gently satirize consumerism in postwar Japan.
