Lullaby of Broadway
Pretty Melinda Howard has been performing with a musical ensemble in Europe. She returns home to surprise her mother, whom she believes to be a successful Broadway actress with a Manhattan mansion. Her mother is a burned-out cabaret performer with a penchant for liquor, which she is unaware of. When she arrives at the mansion, two servants who are friends of her mother welcome her in. Adolph Hubbell, a good-hearted Broadway producer, owns the house and is likewise dragged into the ruse. Hubbell is taken with Melinda and offers her a role in his upcoming production. Melinda also finds love with another character in the show, a handsome hoofer. Everything is going well for Melinda, except she wants to visit her mother, who keeps delaying their meeting.
