Mao's Last Dancer
At the age of 11, Li was tweezed from a bad Chinese village by Madame Mao's social delegates as well as required to Beijing to research ballet. In 1979, during a social exchange to Texas, he fell in love with an American female. Two years later, he managed to defect and also went on to do as a principal dancer for the Houston Ballet and as a principal musician with the Australian Ballet.
