Max and the Junkmen
Max is a detective in Paris who is cold, self-sufficiently affluent, and aggravated by the fact that he is unable to apprehend criminal gangs. He makes the decision to coerce a group of low-level criminals, led by an old friend of his, into robbing a bank so that he can restore his reputation and maintain his honor. Max receives information from a captain who is hesitant to share it with him, and he begins spending evenings with Lilly, a prostitute who is the girlfriend of the commander of the group. He pretends to be a wealthy banker who has plenty of extra cash and urges Lilly to consider her options for the future. He makes a passing reference to a payroll that is processed through his bank. The plan comes together, the low-level crooks believe they are prepared for the big score, and the authorities are in position. What could possibly go wrong with Max's icy strategy? Who is it that is caught?
