Mighty Jerome
Harry Jerome, then 19 years old, was Canada's most promising track and field star, on his way to the Rome Olympics. After a horrific leg injury in1962, he had every reason to believe his racing days were finished. But Jerome was a champion on and off the track. "The greatest comeback in track and field history," said his famed coach Bill Bowerman. Harry Jerome ran through years of unprecedented political turmoil, personal struggle, and racial conflict, exhibiting a character fortitude and determined endurance equal to his record-breaking athleticism.
