Nothing Is Truer than Truth
"Nothin' Is Truer Than Truth" is a movie about Edward de Vere, Seventeenth Earl of Oxford, who was an A-list party boy on the European circuit. He spent more than two years in Venice to learn about the art of commedia dell'arte and to get ideas for Shakespeare's plays from his experiences. To see where De Vere went when he visited Italy in 1575 and 1576 to write The Merchant of Venice, Ohello, Romeo & Juliet and Two Gentlemen of Verona, the movie takes us to the places where he went. Sir Derek Jacobi, Mark Rylance, Tina Packer, and Diane Paulus star in the film, which contends that the alias Shake-speare was coined because of De Vere's bisexuality.
