In 2009, Iranian Canadian journalist Maziar Bahari covered Iran elections for Newsweek. One of the reporters living in the united states with access he made an appearance on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, in a taped interview with comedian Jason Jones. The meeting had been designed as satire, but if the joke was got by the Tehran police that they did not like it - and it would returned again to haunt Bahari if he was rousted from his family home and thrown in prison. Making his directorial debut, Jon Stewart tells the story of Bahari's months-long imprisonment and interrogation within this impressive and upsetting docudrama with a strong and functionality with Gael García Bernal recounting Bahari's efforts to keep his expectation and his sanity at the face of isolation and persecution-through memories of his loved ones, recollections of this music he loves, and notions of his wife and unborn child.
