Surge
SURGE is a feature-length documentary on the historic 2018 midterm elections, which saw a record number of first-time female candidates run, win, and upend politics. SURGE follows three candidates in Texas, Indiana, and Illinois, including Lauren Underwood, the youngest black woman ever elected to Congress, who were all attempting to turn their red districts blue. Lauren is a public health expert and registered nurse who is now campaigning for COVID-19 relief as a freshman representative.
