The Choice of Hercules
When radicals from Japan's Red Army kidnapped a woman in the Nagano resort town of Karuizawa in1972, Officer Atsuyuki Sassa was tasked with defusing the situation. The task, however, was not without its difficulties. When Sassa arrived in mountainous Nagano, she had to contend with freezing winter temperatures, conflicting opinions between the Tokyo Metropolitan Police and the Nagano Prefectural Police, and public opinion in order to gain access to the lodge that held the single woman captive.
