The Conductor

A violinist from a small-town Polish orchestra, whose husband serves as the group's leader, meets the renowned symphonic conductor while visiting the US. It turns out that he had had feelings for the mother of the violinist. In order to lead the regional orchestra, the conductor—a mildly unstable hypochondriac—returns to Poland. Using the violinist as a stand-in for her mother, he also tries to reignite an old love affair. Both personally and professionally, her spouse dislikes the conductor.
