Ireland will host the Tour de France's opening stages in the summer of 1998. Late-30s Belgian Dom Chabol is one of the top "Domestiques" (support riders) in Tour history, riding throughout the last two decades. Set pace, block wind, and support the sprinter to help them win— winning is not an option.–a sacrifice duty. In spite of this, Dom has a secret desire to wear the yellow jersey one last time. Dom is kicked from of the team he has committed his life to at the beginning of his final tour. Team masseur Sonny, his closest friend, cannot reassure him about his career prospects. When Dom meets Lynn, a young Irish doctor, he begins to accept and even love the concept of civilian life after a fortuitous encounter. As he prepares to return home and confront his estranged sister, a catastrophic doping blunder removes another teammate from the Tour, and Dom finds himself back on the bike...
