The Reluctant Debutante
Welcome to London, Jimmy and Sheila Broadbent. Jane, Jimmy's daughter, is 17 years old. Jane, Jimmy's first wife, is visiting her father and stepmother, whom she has never met. Sheila had the notion of making Jane a debutante while she is visiting, but Jane is adamantly opposed to the concept. Jane's apathy toward being put on the marriage market, Sheila's cousin Mabel Claremont's determined efforts to win wealthy David Fenner for her debutante daughter Clarissa, and Jane's attraction to David Parkson, an American drummer who plays in the orchestra at the coming-out balls, are among the challenges.
