The Sanctity of Space
Seventy-five years after Brad Washburn, one of the greatest aerial mountain photographers of all time, took the first photograph of Alaska's Denali Mountain from the open door of an airplane, climbing buddies Renan Ozturk, Freddie Wilkinson, and Zack Smith look at some of his mountain photographs and come up with this crazy idea. Rather than ascending, their ambition is to descend— through the Moose's Tooth massif, one of the range's most terrifying peaks. It's a novel way to discover the same landscape that Washburn did. As the gang battles harsh circumstances, frayed ropes, and constant rockfall, their goal to be the first to complete the daring route becomes obsessive. When Renan suffers a near-fatal brain injury, however, friendships begin to unravel, forcing all three partners to decide what matters most to them.
