The Unseen

When their son is killed in an accident, Gemma and Will's world is shattered. Gemma blames herself and begins to have panic attacks, which affect her vision - and the audience's point of view. Will, tormented, believes he hears his son's voice calling out to him. To get away from their grief, Gemma suggests they take up Paul's offer to stay at his Lake District country retreat. Gemma, with the assistance of ex-pharmacist Paul, tries to stop her panic attacks with medication. Will, unable to hear his son in his bedroom at home, antagonizes Paul and abruptly returns home. Gemma is now completely reliant on Paul, who appears to be developing genuine concerns for her well-being. Gemma brings love, grief, and the frailty of the human condition to the forefront. Will and Paul are caught up in a spiral of psychological and, eventually, physical violence.
