The Watermelon Woman
Cheryl, a young black lesbian, is trying to make a film about a black actress from the 1930s who was known for playing the type of stereotypical "mammy" roles that were relegated to black actresses during that time period. During the day, Cheryl works in a video store, but at night, she is trying to make the film. The first feature film to ever be directed by an out and proud black lesbian was this one.
