Zazie dans le Métro
A precocious and brash ten-year-old arrives to Paris to get a weekend with her uncle. The viewer and he get more than they bargained for, but within this anarchic humor from Louis Malle, which rides roughshod across the City of Light. Based on a popular book by Raymond Queneau who had been considered unadaptable, Malle's audacious Zazie dans le Métro, made using dash on the cusp of the French New Wave, is just a little bit of stream of consciousness slap stick, wall-to-wall with visual gags, editing tricks, and impacts.
