At the Movies
The flicks is just a picture review television program produced by Disney-ABC Domestic Television in which two film critics shared their own opinions of newly released films. The program aired under various names. Its hosts were Roger Ebert of the Chicago Sun times and WLS-TV along with Gene Siskel of WBBM-TV and the Chicago Tribune. After Siskel expired in 1999 richard Roeper of those sun times became Ebert partner in 2000.
Ebert suspended his appearances in 2006 with many different guest hosts, for treatment of thyroid cancer. Michael Phillips of the Chicago Tribune Co-hosted. Starting on September 6, 2008, E! Entertainment Television film critic and reporter Ben Lyons along with Sirius Satellite Radio host and former co-host of this Young Turks and Present Turner Classic Movies host Ben Mankiewicz happened over as hosts. On August 5, 2009, it was announced that Michael Phillips would return to the show and New York Times film critic A. O. Scott on September 5, 2009.
For Primetime Emmy Awards, the show has been nominated Throughout its conduct as broadcasts seven times and additionally for Outstanding Information Series, the nomination. It was widely known for the"thumbs up/thumbs down" review summaries awarded during Siskel's and Ebert's tenures. The show aired in syndication from the United States and on CTV in Canada. The show aired throughout the week in the cable system ReelzChannel.
