Baccano!
Ryohgo Narita wrote and Katsumi Enami illustrated the Baccano! light novel series in Japan. The series is largely set in a fictional United States over several time periods, most notably the Prohibition era, and is narrated from multiple points of view. It follows a group of individuals who are unrelated to one another, such as alchemists, thieves, thugs, Mafiosi, and Camorristi. The characters begin to cross paths after an immortality elixir is manufactured in 1930 Manhattan, setting off events that spiral out of hand. The first novel was published in February 2003 under the Dengeki Bunko banner of ASCII Media Works, and as of March2013, twenty novels had been published. Takahiro Omori directed a sixteen-episode anime television series based on the novels, which was produced by Brain's Base and Aniplex. WOWOW aired the first thirteen episodes from July 26 to November 1, 2007, while the remaining three episodes were published on DVD. The series has also been converted into a two-volume manga, a Nintendo DS adventure game, and two drama CDs. Two gaiden novels were issued in parts with the anime adaptation DVDs, while one additional novel was released with the first drama CD.
