Claymore

Norihiro Yagi is the author and illustrator of the Claymore manga series. In the May 2001 edition of the now-defunct Monthly Shnen Jump, the series made its debut. When the magazine was discontinued in June2007, the series was briefly transferred to Weekly Shnen Jump, where it continued to be published monthly. The series was relocated to Jump Square when it was introduced in November 2007. Shueisha publishes the individual chapters in tankbon volumes; as of December2012, 23 volumes were available. The first eleven volumes of the book were turned into a twenty-six episode anime series by Madhouse. The series, directed by Hiroyuki Tanaka, debuted on NTV in Japan on April 3, 2007 and aired through September 25, 2007. On July25, 2007 and September27,2007, respectively, a CD soundtrack for the anime series and a CD of character songs performed by the anime voice actresses were released. Viz Media has obtained a license to publish the Claymore manga in the English language in North America. On April4,2006, it published the first volume of the series, and as of November6,2012, it had published 21 volumes. The anime adaptation is licensed for distribution in North America by Funimation Entertainment, who released the series's first DVD in the fall of 2008 and the entire series on Blu-ray in the spring of 2010. Madman Entertainment has licensed the anime for distribution in Australia and New Zealand, and Manga Entertainment has sub-licensed the anime for distribution in the United Kingdom.
