Cosmos: A Personal Voyage is a thirteen-episode television series created by Carl Sagan, Ann Druyan, and Steven Soter, and hosted by Sagan. It was executive produced by Adrian Malone, produced by David Kennard, Geoffrey Haines-Stiles, and Gregory Andorfer, and directed by David Oyster, Richard Wells, Tom Weidlinger, and others. It covered a vast array of scientific topics, such as the genesis of life and our place in the universe. The series debuted on the Public Broadcasting Service in 1980 and, until The Civil War, was the most-watched program in the history of American public television. As of2009, it remained the most popular PBS programme in the globe. It received Emmy and Peabody Awards and has since been broadcast in over 60 countries and viewed by over 500 million individuals.
