Cybill
Chuck Lorre's sitcom Cybill ran on CBS from January 2, 1995, through July 13, 1998. The show stars Cybill Shepherd and follows the lives of Cybill Sheridan, a twice-divorced single mother of two and struggling actress in her forties who has yet to break into the big time in show industry. Christine Baranski played Cybill's hard-drinking companion Maryann, while Alicia Witt and Dedee Pfeiffer co-starred as Sheridan's daughters, with Alan Rosenberg and Tom Wopat as their fathers. Shepherd, Lorre, Howard Gould, Jay Daniel, Marcy Carsey, and Tom Werner served as the initial executive producers of the sitcom, which was produced by Carsey-Werner Productions and YBYL Productions. Cybill was nominated for twelve Emmy Awards and won the 1996 Golden Globe Award for Best Television Series–Musical or Comedy after being shown to critical acclaim. Shepherd received a third Golden Globe nomination for her portrayal, while Baranski won an Emmy, a SAG Award, and an American Comedy Award.
