Daniel Deronda
Daniel Deronda is a British television series based on George Eliot's novel of the same name, adapted by Andrew Davies. The three-part series, directed by Tom Hooper and produced by Louis Marks, aired on BBC One from November 23 to December 7 of 2002 in three parts. It featured Hugh Dancy as Daniel Deronda, Jodhi May as Mirah Lapidoth, Romola Garai as Gwendolen Harleth, and Hugh Bonneville as Henleigh Grandcourt. WGBH Boston provided financial support for this joint project. An adaptation of the novel by Louis Marks was originally planned, but the project was abandoned following a lengthy and unsuccessful casting procedure. A further five years elapsed before the drama was broadcast on television. During the course of 11 weeks, filming took place in England, Scotland, and Malta, with the majority of the footage shot in Malta. Before he passed away in 2010, Marks produced one final show for television, this one.
