Disco
Disco was a music app which aired in Germany from 1971 to 1982 to the ZDF system. It aired at 7:30 PM on the first Saturday of each month, each series running 4-5 minutes. Shows were produced. The series was hosted by actor and comedian Ilja Richter. Its predecessor on ZDF, 4-3-2-1 Sweet & Hot was aired between 1970 and 1966, presenters included Suzanne Doucet along with Ilja Richter. A younger audience that was pop-oriented was generally served by disco in contrast to ZDF's Hitparade, and before 1972, its main rival was Beat-Club, followed by both on ARD, Musikladen.
Repeats of Disco are since 1984 on ZDF Musikkanal on 3sat. Since 2004, repeats of the whole series aired. In 2007, ZDF Dokukanal began to air reruns, starting with episodes from 1975 and also multiple repeats of this series have been demonstrated on hit24 at 2008.
The series focussed at the time of airing current on graph hits, giving about air time to German Schlager along with international pop music. Despite the name, it did not specially concentrate on disco music although it featured disco strikes as long as these were relevant. .
