Empty Nest
Empty-nest is an American sitcom that aired on NBC from 1988. Creator and manufacturer Susan Harris made as a spin off of The Golden Girls the show. Empty Nest was among the top 10 programs of those year. It had been produced by Witt/Thomas/Harris Productions in association with Touchstone Television.
The show concept borrowed some elements from the British comedy show Father, Dear Father, also featuring a father living together with both daughters and dog. Unlike that series, the two daughters in Empty Nest are self-supporting adults, and the lead character can be actually a widower.
Empty-nest was a portion of NBC's Saturday night block and throughout its first 4 seasons it aired at 9:30pm ET following a Golden Girls.
The two of those cast were alumni of Susan Harris' earlier shows, Soap. Mulligan was Manoff's Fatherinlaw at Soap.
