Food and Drink
Refreshments is a British Tv Set on BBC Two. First broadcast between 2002 and 1982, it had been the first tv programme at the UK to pay the topic of food and drink without cookery and recipe presentations.
Created in 1982 from BBC manufacturer Henry Murray from an original idea from Jancis Robinson, Fay Maschler and Paul Levy, the first series was presented by Simon Bates and Gillian Miles, also introduced Jilly Goolden within her first regular television looks as the programme's wine expert. Russell Harty presented filmed location reports from exceptional restaurants across Britain. This series featured the innovative idea of a small expanding audience of 20 those who were called"tasters and testers". The first series broadcast in the summer months but was instantly successful, drawing an average audience of 1.5 million a week, a top rating for BBC Two at the summertime at the 80s.
Later series have been presented chef Michael Barry and by Chris Kelly with wine experts Jilly Goolden and Oz Clarke.
A spin-off panel game, Drink Summer Quiz and Food, aired throughout the summertime of the show in 1987.
The theme music was Simon might.
