Fullmetal Alchemist

Alchemy is the practice of taking one thing and transforming it into another using scientific methods. Edward and Alphonse Elric are two brothers who have been endowed with the capacity to practice alchemy. However, the practice of alchemy is based on a concept known as "Equivalent Exchange," which states that in order to produce one thing, another item of equivalent value must first be destroyed. When their mother passes away, Edward makes the unfathomable decision to bring her back to life by conducting Human Alchemy, which is considered to be one of the most serious transgressions in all of alchemy. Because he and Alphonse believe they have nothing else to lose, they decide to give it a shot; however, things go tragically wrong during their effort. During the course of events, Alphonse is stripped of his body, and Edward is amputated below the knee. Ed is able to save Al by affixing the spirit of Al's body to a set of armor; however, this results in Ed losing both of his arms and legs.
