Jack of All Trades
Jack of All Trades is a half-hour syndicated action-comedy television series that aired for two seasons in 2000. It constituted the Back2Back Action Hour with Cleopatra 2525, and both shows were significant for being the first non-animated action series produced in the half-hour format in the United States since the 1970s. The show was discontinued halfway through its second season. The show is set around the turn of the nineteenth century on the fictional French-controlled island of Pulau-Pulau in the East Indies. President Jefferson dispatched Jack Stiles as an American secret agent. He meets his British contact and love interest, English spy Emilia Rothschild, while he is there. They collaborate to stop Napoleon and other threats to the United States. When the necessity comes, Jack morphs into a masked hero: The Daring Dragoon. The sitcom included several running gags, such as Jack being responsible for many key historical events but not receiving credit, Emilia producing a miracle innovation in an evident deus ex machina, sexual puns and innuendos, and Jack and Emilia's ongoing romantic tension.
