Kindred: The Embraced
John Leekley Productions and Spelling Television produce the American television series Kindred: The Embraced. The series began on Fox on April2,1996, and ran for eight episodes before being canceled on May9,1996. It was loosely inspired on the role-playing game Vampire: The Masquerade. While investigating reputed mobster Julian Luna, San Francisco Police Detective Frank Kohanek discovers that his city is home to several vampires. Julian is the "prince" of the city and the leader of five vampire clans collectively known as "The Kindred." Julian strictly maintains the regulations governing vampires in order to protect their identity, as vampires subsist by disguising themselves as humans and using a "masquerade" Julian and Frank develop an uneasy alliance as they attempt to avoid a vampire war, while Julian battles with his romantic affections for human reporter Caitlin Byrne. The series' eight episodes have been published on VHS and DVD.
