Knowing Me Knowing You with Alan Partridge
There were six episodes of the Knowing Me Knowing You with Alan Partridge series that aired on BBC Television in 1995, as well as a Christmas special. The song "Knowing Me, Knowing You" by ABBA, which was used as the title music for the show, is the inspiration for the name of this song. Alan Partridge, the inept yet self-satisfied host of the show, was portrayed by Steve Coogan, who was based in Norwich. Alan was a character who had his own show based on the parody radio program On the Hour. Coogan, Armando Iannucci, and Patrick Marber collaborated on the writing of Knowing Me Knowing You. Doon Mackichan, Rebecca Front, and David Schneider, who played Alan's weekly guests, also contributed to the writing of the show. Steve Brown was not only responsible for the music and orchestration of the program but also made an appearance as the character Glen Ponder, who was in command of the house band. The program was a send-up of other talk shows in the genre. Because it was shown in front of a live audience, viewers knew they were not watching a genuine talk show whenever the audience laughed. I'm Alan Partridge, a sitcom that followed Alan's life after the dissolution of his marriage and the conclusion of his career in television, aired for two seasons and featured Alan as a recurring character.
