Lights Out
Lights Out was an American classic radio plan, an early instance of a network chain devoted to the supernatural and dread, pre-dating Inner Sanctum and Suspense. Versions of lights-out aired on networks, into the summer of 1947, from January 1934 occasionally and the series finally made the transition.
NBC Television brought Lights Out to TV at a series of four specials, broadcast live and produced. NBC asked Cooper to produce the script to its premiere,"First Person Singular", that can be told entirely from the viewpoint of an unseen murderer who kills his outspoken wife and winds up being implemented. Variety gave this first episode a rave review ("definitely among the best dramatic shows yet seen on a television series"), however, Lights outdid become a regular NBC TV series before 1949.
