Linebarrels of Iron
Manga series Linebarrels of Iron by Eiichi Shimizu and Tomohiro Shimoguchi is a Japanese manga series. In 2005, Akita Shoten's monthly shnen manga magazine, Champion Red, began serializing the series. As of November 20, 2008, eleven tankobon volumes have been released. "Linebarrel" is the name of the robot that Kouichi Hayase pilots after an accident transforms him into a 14-year-old high school student. He meets a mystery female while piloting the "Linebarrel." As reported in Animage magazine's February issue, there will be an anime adaptation of the manga series in development. Masamitsu Hidaka is the director and Gonzo is the animator of the anime. Even though the world premiere of the first episode took place at the 2008 Anime Expo in Southern California, the series premiered in Japan on October3, 2008 on the TBS television network. The anime had a total of twenty-four episodes, the last of which aired on March20, 2009. To celebrate the anime version of the series, Shimizu and Shimoguchi decided to make a one-shot manga that retells the entire first episode of the anime, which has a different plot than the beginning of the manga.
