Lucy Worsley's Nights at the Opera
For hundreds of years in civilization, opera has become the greatest show on earth. Historian Lucy Worsley investigates history and opera go together. She visits the terrific European cities where a number of the most famous operas were written, tells the stories of the colourful characters that wrote them, and shows the way they revealed that the tumultuous times these were composed in and also the lifestyles, hopes and fears of the folks who lived inside them. Whilst Lucy visits European opera houses and the cities, music director of London's Royal Opera, Antonio Pappano, helps us understand some of the operas' greatest musical minutes.
