Macross Plus
Macross Plus is an original video animation (OVA) that consists of four episodes and a theatrical feature that is part of the Macross franchise. It was the first sequel to the original Macross television series that continued the story in the established continuity of the Macross universe. At the time of its release, Plus was a ground-breaking combination of traditional cel animation and computer-generated animation. This combination paved the way for the increased use of computer-generated images in Japanese animation. Bandai Visual was the company that distributed the OVA series and the movie within Japan, whereas Manga Entertainment was the company that did it across North America and Europe. Manga Entertainment was the company that distributed the VHS version in Australia, whereas Madman Entertainment was the company that distributed the DVD version of the film under sub-license from Manga Entertainment. It includes a number of new mecha designs, many of which were influenced by the first series.
