POV is a Public Broadcasting Service television set which features individual non fiction films. POV is an initialism for point of perspective.
POV is the longest-running Show Case on television for documentary films. PBS gift ideas 14 16 POV programs each year, and the show has established over 300 films to U.S. television audiences as 1988. POV's films possess a solid first-person focus. Established directors, such as Terry Zwigoff, Jonathan Demme, Michael Moore, Errol Morris, David and Albert Maysles, Michael Apted, Frederick Wiseman, Marlon Riggs, and Ross McElwee have had workforce screened.
The show has garnered both industry and critical acclaim within its 20-plus years. POV programs also have won major industry awards including three Oscars, 32 Emmys, 3-6 Cine Golden Eagles, 15 Peabody Awards, 11 Alfred I. duPont-Columbia Awards, both the Prix Italia and the Webby Award.
