Queer as Folk
Queer as Folk is a 1999 British television series that depicts the lives of three gay men who reside in Manchester's gay town around Canal Street. In both Queer as Folk and Queer as Folk2, Russell T Davies is the author. For Channel 4's 25th anniversary, More 4 aired the first series between October 14 and October18, 2007. The Red Production Company created Queer as Folk on Channel 4. The phrase "there's nowt so queer as folk," which translates to "there's nothing as unusual as people," is a word play on the modern-day English synonym for "queer," which means homosexual. For a brief time during preparation and pre-production, the show was referred to as Queer as Fuck by Channel 4 executives at the suggestion of Davies, before returning to its original title.
