Saints & Strangers
Saints & Strangers is a novel that delves beyond the traditional historical accounts of Thanksgiving and the founding of Plymouth Plantation, describing the struggles and sorrows of the 102 men, women, and children who embarked on a rented ship to a place they had never seen. Half of this group are pilgrims or saints, religious separatists who gave up their previous lives for a single cause: religious freedom. The merchant adventurers, often known as strangers, had less spiritual and more material goals. The group's inner conflicts were heightened by a problematic connection with the local Native American tribes as they attempted to establish a new colony. Conflicting allegiances among various communities resulted in assimilation, faith, and compromise struggles that have defined our country to this day.
