Soap can be an American sitcom that ran from 1977 on ABC to 1981. The show was created as a parody of afternoon soap operas, presented like a weekly half hour prime period comedy. Similar to a soap opera, the series's narrative included melodramatic plot elements like demonic possession alien abduction, murder, and kidnapping and was exhibited in a serial format. Back in 2007 it had been recorded among Time magazine"100 Best shows of alltime," and in 2010, the Tates and the Campbells ranked at number 17 in TV Guide's list of"TV's Top Families". The show was made, written, and executive produced by Susan Harris, and executive produced by Paul Junger Witt and Tony Thomas. Each returning season was countered with a 90-minute retrospective of their last season. The two of those retrospectives were made on VHS in 1994. 85 episodes were aired by the show . The final 4 episodes of this show aired during the run on ABC as episodes. These hourlong episodes were later split in 2, yielding 9-3 episodes. All episodes are available in your region 1 DVD in four individual box collections. The show has re-run on TV Land and Comedy Central on local syndicated channels in addition to on cable. It ran on television until December 30th, 2012, on Antenna TV.
