Texhnolyze
Texhnolyze is a Japanese anime television series directed by Hiroshi Hamasaki, based on a story by Chiaki Konaka, produced by Yasuyuki Ueda, and featuring character designs by Yoshiyuki ABe. The events take place in Lux, an underground metropolis that is both vibrant and decaying. The inhabitants of Lux refer to Lux as "The City" and view it as a sentient entity. Organo, a strictly professional corporation with ties to the criminal underworld in the prosthetics industry; the Union, a zealous populist organisation interfering with Organo's operations; and Racan, a marauding group of Texhnolyzed adolescents, compete for control of the city. Ichise, a stoic prize fighter who loses a leg and an arm to satisfy an irate promoter; Onishi, a young but level-headed executive of the Organo who has many enemies; and Ran, a little girl with a very vital gift that impacts the entire city, are featured prominently. As they try to accept the hardships they have been dealt, the characters are witnesses to significant events that determine whether or not the city will continue to exist. Fuji Television aired twenty episodes of Texhnolyze from April16, 2003 to September24,2003, for a total of twenty episodes. The DVD edition contains two "hidden" episodes.
