The Inspector Alleyn Mysteries
Nine of Ngaio Marsh's Roderick Alleyn novels served as the basis for the British detective television series The Inspector Alleyn Mysteries. It was broadcast at first from 1990 and 1994. Simon Williams played Detective Inspector Alleyn in the pilot episode. William Simons played Detective Sergeant Fox, Alleyn's "Watson," while Belinda Lang played Alleyn's love interest Agatha Troy. Williams wasn't available when the first series was produced, so while Simons and Lang returned to their previous roles, Patrick Malahide took over as the main character going forward. Nine episodes total, each based on a different novel, were produced by the BBC. In the US and the UK, DVDs of the eight episodes that featured Malahide are available. There is a set of all nine episodes in Australia.
