The Ren & Stimpy Show
Ren & Stimpy is a Canadian animator John Kricfalusi's American animated television series. The show debuted on Nickelodeon on August11,1991, alongside Rugrats and Doug, as part of the Nicktoons block. Ren Höek, an emotionally unstable chihuahua, and Stimpson J. Cat, a good-natured, dimwitted cat, are the central protagonists of the series. The show aired on the network for five seasons. During and after its existence, the show earned critical acclaim and a cult following, with some critics crediting it with paving the way for satirical animated shows like Beavis and Butthead and South Park, as well as playing an important part in television animation. The Ren & Stimpy Show was notorious for its off-color comedy, sexual innuendo, and violence throughout its run, all of which contributed to the production team's clashes with Nickelodeon's Standards and Practices department. Ren & Stimpy "Adult Party Cartoon," a spin-off for adults, premiered on Spike in 2003 but was quickly discontinued.
